Stena Line Belfast to Stranraer Route

Stena Line operates both a fast ferry service, Stena HSS, and a 'conventional' ferry service from Belfast to Stranraer.
It is important that passengers with 'special needs' inform the company when they are travelling, preferably at the same time as making your reservation, but assistance can still be provided on the day of departure on request. Wheelchairs are available for use, if required.

Priority Boarding

Stena provide priority boarding to both car and foot passengers who are disabled and require added assistance when boarding the HSS. They have a dedicated area for boarding foot passengers with special needs.

Electrical Wheelchair

As well as our conventional wheelchairs Stena also have an electrical wheelchair at the Belfast Port. This does not need to be pre-booked and is available to anyone who requests wheelchair assistance.

Foot Passengers on Stena Line

If you are travelling as a foot passenger to Stranraer there are spaces available for people with disabilities inside the car park at the side of the terminal. A ramped walkway leads from the car park to the terminal.
When you arrive at the terminal there are toilet facilities for people with disabilities in the foyer. After you have passed through the main foyer and into the check in area there is a lift which will take you up to the main departure lounge, there is also an escalator, if you prefer. Once you reach the departure lounge there is access to toilet facilities, a cafe and the ramped walkways which will take you to the ferry, the walkway to the HSS has a slight incline and if you feel that you may require assistance please ask Stena Line to help when checking-in.
Once on board either the HSS or the conventional ferries you have access to all facilities. On the HSS there are internal lifts which will enable you to change between deck levels should you require to do so during the journey.
On arrival at Stranraer you can leave the ship via a ramped walkway and then get into a fully accessible minibus which will take you to the main terminal building.
When you return to Belfast there is a walkway from the ship into the terminal and then a lift which will take you into the arrivals area to collect your luggage. Once you have collected your luggage you then have access to the main car parks and a public hire taxi rank.

Travelling by Car on Stena Line

PLEASE ENSURE YOU INFORM CHECK-IN STAFF OF YOUR REQUIREMENTS WHEN YOU ARE CHECKING IN.
If you are travelling by car you will be placed in a special queue after check-in so that Stena Line staff can provide you with appropriate assistance when boarding.
If you are travelling on either the HSS or the 'conventional' ferries you will be positioned beside the on board lifts which will enable you to access the main deck on the ship.
Remember - advance notice given to the company should help to make your journey as trouble-free as possible.
