Belfast International Airport
Belfast International Airport
Belfast International Airport (BIA) - has an on-going commitment to provide facilities for passengers with 'special needs' from the moment they arrive at the airport until their departure. BIA staff have received disability awareness training and there are a number of wheelchairs available to the public if required.
Arriving at BIA by Road - (Disabled Parking)
On arrival at the airport, by road, BIA porters are available at the 'set-down' area and can also assist in the car park areas. There are reserved car parking spaces in the main BIA controlled car parks, 10 in the main car park, 16 in the short stay car park and 26 in the holiday car park. Access to and from these car parks is sign posted and footpaths with tapered kerbs lead to a pedestrian crossing and route to the main terminal building.
The doors are automated and a low level helpline phone is available should you want to contact the information desk. The check-in concourse is on the same level and Disabled toilets, a mothers room, low level phones and an Information Helpline are also available. This allows easy access to all shops, bars, restaurants, cash-dispensers, pay phones and wheelchair accessible toilet facilities.
Once you have checked-in the airlines' handling agent will look after you.
A battery driven buggy is available and operated by BIA in the International Pier, from the International Departure Lounge and Tax Free Shop. There are two lifts available to ground level, if required.
Arriving at BIA by Air
On arrival at the airport, by air, you will be assisted either by the airline staff or their handling agent to the carousel to collect your baggage and then BIA staff will assist you to the set down area or car parks.
A textphone service and information about TAC approved wheelchair accessible taxis is available at the BIA information desk.
Please note that to get the best service it is essential that either you contact the airport or airline direct or via your travel agent and tell them that you have 'additional needs' - this should make for a trouble free journey.
